You will enjoy great, sociable breakfast in the kitchen. A contemporary, glass-walled designer haven, Estalagem Quinta da Casa Branca was built to maximise the views over its spectacular, lush tropical gardens. It is home to one of Madeira s best restaurants and provides a peaceful retreat in the heart of Funchal.

The hotel is base round a large courtyard and has been converted from a number of georgian terraces. This is a retreat where you can rest and relax and find quiet corners in the gardens filled with camphor, banana trees and Norfolk pines. Large, contemporary-styled living rooms with modern art pieces are very tranquil, as is the accommodation with terraces overlooking the gardens.

Visit the Botanical Gardens in Funchal for a good introduction to both indigenous and exotic flora. Then take a boat trip to the beautiful island of Porto Santo, or to Monte, a pretty hill-top town nearby. Return to the hotel s restaurant, Casa da Quinta for Portuguese, a la carte dining.
